About Tom Word
Tom Word is a lawyer who represents individuals about managing their assets and for amusement writes fiction and non-fiction about bird dogs and humans obsessed with them.
About Leah Brigham
After graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Art Education, Leah began teaching Art to inner city Middle School students in Houston and later Dallas, TX. Leah has shared with her students her passion for art and nature. This passion has sustained her and continued throughout her life in the form of painting and drawing.
Leah was introduced to American Field Horseback Field Trails and has been able to experience the excitement of seeing her own dog, competing for the National Championship at Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, TN ...standing on point, head and tail held high. This has inspired her to create works of art depicting dogs and the wildlife associated with the sport and hunting.

A fun time in Illinois getting some good dog work and shooting in.

@gundogcentral we had a good amount of flushes, probably 50 total, 20 in gun "range", 7 roosters.
Shooting skills were lacking so no birds in the bag.
Had the fortune of hunting with someone who'd drawn the permit for Sibley!
@tf30 Curious how you did on pheasant. Looks like you got some water fowling in too.
Whiskey Creek’s Man in Black, “Cashâ€, and his first grouse.

@setterzhotmailcom Welcome to Gun Dog Chat. Congrats on Cash's first Grouse.
Ellie (Bracco Italiano) almost 13 years old. She is not as wild and crazy as she used to be but she still has a great nose and a heart for birds.

@riverbendbraccos Wow, 13! That's awesome.
Wheels is closing in on 10 years old. Went out to the steep cliff country where she got her start as a chukar dog for the first time in several years yesterday. She didn’t run as fast or cover as much country as she used to, didn’t need to. She ran straight to the right places and pinned a huge covey of chukar. The youngster I put down with her popped up on the other side of the covey and blocked them from running along the cliff. They were about 800’ vertical above me and it took me several minutes to get there but the girls still had them. Got a double on the covey rise, took a quick photo of the the star of the show (much to her chagrin) and worked our way back down the hill. Tough, steep country and one heck of a death march up the hill, but what a memory! Gotta love those old dogs that can still get it done â¤ï¸

@gertie She looks really good at nearly 10. Sounds like a great time!
The prodigious drive and commitment they have to the sport is noble!
